$50.00
Height: 3ft, Bloom-time: Midseason, Bud-count:22 with secondaries, Out to Down-facing
Rainbows and Sunshines brings pink and mauve together in recurved light magenta petals that reveal a vivid white star. Standing at 3 feet tall Rainbows and Sunshines has a long bloom-season with it’s flower stems producing secondary buds creating a second flush of flowers. Healthy foliage even in this damp warm year. This lily has been in the garden and selected for introduction for sometime. From Fred Fellner breeding, the white star on pink is a nod to what was a strong breeding trait coming out of Vermillion, Alberta.
Like something outside of this earth, like rainbows and sunshines, is the joy of seeing my seven year old niece take in the flowers, ask questions and proceed with magnificent presumption. It didn’t take long for her to select this beautiful flower, the name already on her mind. When asked what inspired the name for her lily she expressed that Rainbows are her favourite colour. I loved her focused enthusiasm as she made her selection which was followed up with a few crosses on it, by way of an orange lily. The wonder of it all.
