Height: 3.3ft Season: Mid-Late Budcount: 27

Finding Quiet’s fresh white flowers, blushed with pink are beautifully set against stems with the appearance of the colour of sage thanks the the little “hairs” on flower buds and stems. Finding Quiet is a treat to photograph with the sun lighting up the plant with an ethereal glow. Adding to the uniqueness of the plant, the flower buds are held on distinctive angled up pedicels. Additionally, Finding Quiet extends the lily season, it will still be blooming when many lilies are finishing up. It is such a treat to be able to offer a lily that breaks out of the mid-season sea.

Named for a posture of life, a vision of reality, the same reality that sparrows and flowers live in. This is what I see when I look at Finding Quiet. To be in the midst of the challenges of everything that is thrown our way, or chosen, and have a cultivated interior life of quiet. Like sitting confidently in a boat without oars or as Julian of Norwich wrote to this effect, “Once my understanding was let down into the bottom of the sea and there I saw green hills and valleys with appearance of moss strewn with seaweed and gravel. Then I understood in this way if a man or woman were there under the wide waters, if they could see God, as God is continually with them, they would be safe, and soul and body would come to no harm. And furthermore, they would have more reassurance and strength than all this world can give.”
